So another cold but nice day in Melbourne

I got up and went for a walk and discovered that the cioty really doesnt wake up untill 10 am on a sunday , a bit more civilised than in perth !

So after finding some caffine i went for a walk around the docklands stadiunm , its huge !

AFter that i went for a sticky beak in DFO , a shoping center just for clothing .. didnt buy much but might go back tomorow for some thermals !

Its bloody cold this side of the country at this time of year !!

Sp here I am  in melbourne and as the saying goes , when in rome ...

So i went to an AFL game ..

It was quite an experience .. I think Melbourne people love the game first and their team second i think they have a real passion for the sport

I was in the pocket ( Just near the goals) and because i was on my own i got a really good seat

It was an essendon home game so there was a sea of red and black bombers fans and 2 small pockets of Crows (Adeilaide) fans

Some of the young men from adielade had pig masks or a pig nose and ears on , obviously a dig at the Swine flu and how prevelant it is in Victora

Apparently some young ladies said they had been told they where not allowed to go back to classes at uni if they had been to melbournes and felt ill ...

After the game i went for a walk around the city

Walked down to flinders st trainin station and grabed a coffe and a musli slice before catching the train to watsonia on the Hurtsbridge line

a gair uneventful train journey and i met up with brian at the station

It was versy cold and i was regreting not diging my gloves out of my suitcase

Went to Brians place in the Plenty river valley , lovely spot

Met Drake the snake  ( hes lovely and very freindly ) then went for a walk down the valley ( mind the steep hill !)

Then we headed of to Heasville sanctuary witch was about an hours drive away

lovely countryside , windy roads and we ended up on the edge if the yarra valley wine region

Heasvile was very cook , basicly a Zoo for Australian natives

Saw a platapus ( smaller than i thought)  wather rat ( bigger than i though .. very cute tho) and did the raptor and parrot demos

got my head skimed by a very large Wegetail in the bird show .. i closed my eyes .. she was coming right for me .. eep .. magnificent birds tho

Id recomend it for any animal lovers .. great day out

Brian droped me off at hurtsville and i caught the train home .. it was dark at 5pm !

got back to the city ath about 6:30 and went for a walk and then it finaly started to drissle so i went back to my accomadation , and found a reasonaly cheep japanese on the way back

had some dinner and then got back to the hostel

As i was organsing my stuff a young lass was trying to get a room but they where full they sent her to their other branch witch is a tram ride away so i gave her my metcard as i was done for the night

Swancon is over for another year ! :(

This was my 14th Swancon and every year is fun :)

In all the cons I've been to only a handful have been for the guest, the rest have been to see the people I dont see except at swancons !

Have to say that Rob Shearman was a delight to meet !
Ken Mcleod was really nice ( as was his lovely wife) and Glenda Larke was also cool.

It was lovely to see Zara Baxter again ! ( a deserving Fan Guest)

Always a pleasure to Have DUFF delegates, They where great :)

Some great panels this year, and what i saw of the masquerade was kinda neat!

As always the highlight of my con is hugging all my friends I don't see otherwise !
